AdSense for YouTube payments: verification, PIN, bank setup and payment dates
To receive YouTube AdSense earnings, you need to select the correct YouTube payment account and prepare the required identity and address verification, tax information, and payment method. You become eligible for monthly payments only when the finalized balance reaches the payment threshold for that currency and there is no payment hold. Completing account registration or channel linking alone does not result in immediate deposits.
Distinguish estimated earnings from the finalized balance
Earnings seen in YouTube Studio analytics are estimated. A month’s earnings may be adjusted later, and the finalized earnings are reflected in the AdSense YouTube payment account. Rather than directly comparing Studio figures with bank deposits, you should check the estimated earnings, finalized earnings, taxes/adjustments, and payment transactions for the same month in order.
In AdSense, go to Payments → Payments info. If several payment accounts are available, select YouTube. Website AdSense and YouTube balances must each meet their own payment threshold; do not add them together. If several channels are linked, one channel’s analytics and the payment account’s total balance may also cover different scopes. See the YouTube partner earnings overview for estimated and finalized earnings.
If the roles of the payment account and channel are unclear, review AdSense for YouTube and YPP explained. If linking is incomplete, follow linking an existing account or applying for a new one before troubleshooting a payout.
How to complete identity verification and address verification (PIN)
Identity verification is the process of confirming who the recipient is, and address verification is the process of confirming the payment address. When a verification request appears, check that the information listed in your account matches the information you submit, and follow the required documents, format, and deadlines shown on screen. When identity verification is required may vary depending on region and account, so rather than waiting to reach an amount mentioned in an old article, check your own payment notifications first.
A PIN is a Personal Identification Number. For accounts that require address verification, you enter the 6-digit number received by mail. However, depending on the region, if you pass online identity verification, separate address verification may not be necessary. Therefore, do not assume that PIN mail will necessarily arrive for everyone, and check the pending requests for yourself under Payment → Identity Verification.
- Check the postal code, detailed address, and recipient information of the mailing address and prepare to actually receive regular mail.
- Check in your account whether the PIN has been issued and the issue date. If identity verification was requested first, the PIN may not be sent until that verification is completed.
- When you receive the mail, go to the address verification request under payments → identity verification, enter the PIN, and check the completion result. Do not enter other login verification numbers or bank numbers.
- If you have not received it about 3 weeks after issuance, check the address and issue date, then verify in your account whether it can be reissued. Do not repeatedly enter guessed numbers.
Google's Address Verification and PIN Guide explains that regular mail has no tracking number and that the address verification must be completed within 4 months of the PIN issuance date. Repeated incorrect entries or missing the verification deadline may cause issues with ad serving, so check your account warnings and the official troubleshooting procedures. Existing AdSense users should also distinguish between verifications already completed and requests remaining in their YouTube payment accounts.
Where do I submit U.S. tax information?
Creators who monetize on YouTube must provide Google with the required U.S. tax information regardless of their country of residence. Withholding is the procedure of deducting the relevant tax before payment, and whether it applies and the tax rate depends on whether you are an individual or a business, your country of residence, the information submitted, and tax treaty eligibility. Do not copy another creator's selections or assume the same tax rate applies to all earnings.
- Go to Payments → Payment Info → Manage Settings.
- In your payment profile, select Edit or Manage U.S. tax information.
- Answer the guidance questions based on your actual tax status and recipient information, and complete the form as instructed by the system.
- After submission, check your status and any additional document requests. Entering information is not the same as approval, and also verify the applicable withholding details.
Google's YouTube U.S. Tax Requirements also provides guidance on updating and expiring tax information. Even after the initial submission, if your address or tax status changes, or if the form expires, it must be reviewed again. If treaty benefits, form selection, or reporting obligations in your country of residence are unclear, consult a tax professional or the relevant tax authority. Submitting information to AdSense does not mean you have fulfilled all reporting obligations in your country of residence.
Register a payment method and bank account
The time when you can add a payment method and the time when you can actually receive a transfer are different. Sometimes, the registration option only opens once your balance reaches the threshold for selecting a payment method. If the add menu does not appear on the payment screen, first check whether you have selected the correct payment account and review the threshold and verification requests.
- Go to Payments → Payment Info → Manage Payment Methods in your YouTube payment account.
- Select Add Payment Method and choose the method provided by your account. Available methods vary depending on the country or region of the payment address.
- If you select bank transfer, enter the account holder, bank name, account number, SWIFT/BIC code, and other information on the screen to match the information registered with the bank. SWIFT/BIC is a code that identifies a bank for international transfers. The required items may vary depending on the country and transfer method.
- Confirm whether to use it as your primary payment method and then save. Check again that the registered method appears in your YouTube payment account and that the primary method and additional verification requests are correct.
For example, if it is a payout address in Korea, check the YouTube column for Korea in Google's country-specific table, and review bank transfer as one of the actual display methods. Do not apply the methods provided in Korea directly to other countries. Request official instructions from your bank for receiving overseas transfers, and enter intermediary bank information only if necessary. Fees, currency exchange, and receivable currencies vary according to bank conditions, so the deposited amount should not be confirmed by simple currency conversion. Check country-specific payment methods and registration instructions and Bank transfer information input instructions together.
From what amount is payment made, and when is the balance carried over?
The payment threshold varies depending on the currency of the payment account. The default payment threshold for a US dollar (USD) payment account is $100, but this should not be applied as a universal amount for all countries and currencies. Also check whether you have set a payment hold or a higher threshold. The exact amounts by currency are determined based on the official payment threshold table and the account's payment settings.
| Category | What does it determine? | Points to check |
|---|---|---|
| Certification-related criteria and requests | Required verification such as identity and address | Check regional differences and account notifications first |
| Threshold amount for selecting a payment method | The time when you can register a payment method | Being able to register does not mean immediate remittance is possible |
| Payment threshold amount | Whether the balance qualifies for monthly payment | Check currency, holds, and other payment requirements as well |
Balances below the threshold are rolled over to the next month. Do not attempt to meet the payment amount by clicking your own ads or asking viewers to click ads. Balances from blogs with separate payment accounts are not combined to meet the threshold.
Monthly schedule from revenue confirmation to deposit
Google's AdSense payment process for YouTube explains the process in order of confirming the previous month’s earnings, checking payment requirements, and processing payments. The payment processing date may not be the same as the date the funds are actually available in your bank account.
| Timing | What Happens | To Be Checked by Operator |
|---|---|---|
| Every Month from 7th to 12th | Confirmation of Previous Month's Income and Reflection on YouTube Payment Account | Estimated Revenue and Confirmed Income · Adjustment Details |
| As of the 20th of Every Month | Check Payable Balance, Information, and Hold Status | Complete Required Information Changes and Hold Releases Before the 20th |
| Every Month from 21st to 26th | Processing Payments for Accounts that Meet Conditions | Payment Transaction Status and Deposit Time for Selected Method |
For example, assume that October revenue is finalized in early November, the confirmed balance of your YouTube USD payment account is $110, and the other payment conditions are also met. If the criteria for that month are met without any payment holds, it could be eligible for the November payment cycle, but there is no guarantee that "you will receive $110 from the bank on November 21." The actual deposit date and received amount may vary depending on weekends/holidays, the payment method/time zone, deductions, and bank processing.
What to check when a payment is missing
- Account and period: Check whether it is the YouTube payment account and ensure you are looking at the confirmed balance, not estimated earnings.
- Requirements and holds: Check the payment threshold, identity/address verification, tax information, and hold notifications for payment method and account. If a cause is indicated, resolve it according to the official procedure for that item.
- Monthly closing: Check whether hold releases or changes to payment information occurred after the 20th. Late corrections may be reflected in the next payment cycle.
- Transaction status: Distinguish whether there are no payment transactions yet or if you are waiting for bank deposit after payment processing. If it is after processing, check bank information, whether receipt is possible, and return notifications.
- Preparing an inquiry: Organize the payment date, currency, amount, transaction identification information, and error messages, and contact the bank or Google's official support channels. Do not post your full account number, ID, or tax number in public communities.
For situations where payment is delayed after processing, check the relevant conditions in the official FAQ related to bank transfers . Before changing your account information, confirm if there are any payment transactions already in process and when the change will take effect, and after making changes, review whether the correct primary payment method remains. Distinguishing between bank processing that requires waiting and payment holds that need to be resolved directly helps avoid unnecessary account re-registrations.
